What we are up to...
Below will be posted news about service upgrades changes and general announcements.

Web Servers...
1 Sept 2010 - Anyone that controls their own domain name and points their domain at a Primex web server with an IP address of 80.95.192.71 or 80.95.192.74 should change the IP to 188.39.25.108 ASAP. The old IP addresses will soon be turned off.

Web Servers...
1 July 2010 - The web servers are being upgraded from today. This process will last a few weeks. During the upgrade the servers will also be assigned new IP addresses. Although all websites will be effected the change shouldn't effect people.

Mail Servers...
30 June 2010 - Anyone who specifies IP addresses as their incoming and outgoing mail servers should change them to pop3.their-domain-name.co.uk and smtp.their-domain-name.co.uk. The IP addresses that Primex uses on it's servers are about to change. No one should have IP addresses in place of host names but if you have then these need changing immediately.

NameServer Changes...
26 June 2010 - Anyone who specifies a nameserver address either with their broadband connection, dial-up or within their PC's network configuration should make sure they use one or more of the following name servers:
78.33.242.158 (ns0.primex.co.uk)
78.33.242.152 (ns1.primex.co.uk)
78.33.242.154 (ns2.primex.co.uk)
The old nameservers of 80.95.192.66, 80.95.192.50 and 80.95.192.93 are being decommissioned

ADSL Problems...
31 March 2010 - We are currently aware of a Major Service Outage on BT's network which is affecting a number of 21CN based DSL connections in the Midlands region. This outage is the result of a failed BT Planned Engineering Works event which was in progress during the early hours of this morning.

BT are currently working to resolve this issue, however no ETR has been announced as of yet.

Further updates will be posted as the information is received from BT. This fault has been fixed

Email Reports...
March 2010 - You will soon be able to see reports relating to spam emails. These reports will be available within the email control panel. You will be able to see how many emails you receive and how many of them are thought to be spam. You will be able to view details of the emails that are thought to be spam along with the reason they were seen as spam. Each week you will be emailed with these details. This will enable you to manage spam more easily.

Phishing emails...
January 2010 - There are many types of phishing emails doing the rounds. One recent email reports as being from Primex and relates to a security upgrade on your mailbox. It goes on to to ask you to click on a link. Never click on a link within an email that asks you to do something without first checking or emailing the company that the email is supposed to come from. If you do ever click on a link within an email never enter password or bank account information. Many links within an email will take you to bogus websites. These websites may well deposit software or a virus on your computer which enables them to break into your computer. It is important that you always keep Windows and other software on your computer upto date as this will help to protect you if you make an innocent mistake. Many phising emails report as being from a bank. No bank will ever send you an email with a link that asks you to enter your password. If you are worried about phishing emails simply ignore any email that asks you to do something. If the email was that important and was genuine then the company concerned would also write to you via standard letter or call you. What is the worst that can happen by ignoring an email? Very little is the answer and nothing that can not be sorted easily at a later date.

ADSL Fault...
30th September 2009 - There is a Fibre break in a cable between Manchester and Leeds that takes broadband traffic. The traffic is going via another route but some users may notice broadband speeds slowing slightly. Our supplier is aware of the problem and engineers have been despatched to the scene. No time estimate of when the fault will be rectified is available. Fault fixed around Midday today.

Network Status...
20th August 2009 - There is now a Network Status link on the main menu. This status page updates automatically. Various tests are made every 3 minutes to all servers. If a server goes wrong it should show up on this page. If you are suffering a problem and this page shows a problem then there is no need to inform us as we will already be working on it.

Website Update...
19th August 2009 - Various pages on the website are still being updated and will appear over the next few days. Some links still point to the old website. As time goes by all pages will be updated with new content. When new features are added a note about them will appear here.

Email Control Panel...
2nd August 2009 - An email control panel has been leased (see menu) where various settings can be changed for spam control and auto responders. You must have cookies enabled on your web browser to use this feature.

New website released...
1st August 2009 - The new website is released, simplified, built for mobile phone, PDA and Internet tablet usage in mind. As more and more people use hand held devices and the need to cater more for people with accessability needs this website should be far simpler to use. Built using CSS to separate the style from the content it allows us to change the style and look very quickly. Audio readers should cope better with this and adding new services and information will be greatly sped up.

Change of telephone number...
1st August 2009 - Today, OFCOM changed the way 0870 numbers are charged. Primex decided to revert back to a standard telephone number. We used an 0870 number as it allowed us to redirect and point the number to different places with ease where a standard number would have proved difficult for us to use. Now with VoIP telephone we can use standard type numbers and still manage to divert calls to where we need. For how to Contact Primex and the new number please go to the Contact Us page.
